Rain Delay

This is what I did during a rain delay at the Jacksonville Jaguars' public practice on Tuesday. Going back tonight, and the next night, and the next night. I am looking forward to it.

We actually sent the lightning one to the AP, and they moved it on the wire. So that is officially my first photo on the wire. It was pretty cool.

"hike hike, photo, inappropriate dialogue"

...is what Brooks student Shaun Kelly posted on my Facebook about my assignment at the VJ Multimedia Workshop in Ventura, Calif.
I got back to Jacksonville yesterday night after traveling 16 hours from the workshop. I am still trying to organize all the experiences in my head from the week. Between all the knowledge floating around and all the new friends made it an unforgettable week.
Here are some of my favorite singles from the assignment. I hiked up the Santa Monica Mountains with six senior-aged women. They have been hiking these mountains since 1986. I had to keep up. Huffing and puffing...and yes, there was some "inappropriate dialogue." Fun stuff though.

Friday's camp session concluded the one-week Summer Camp Adventure: "CSI MOSH." Camp Instructor Elena Duduk led four prior days of training that taught campers how to detect finger and lip prints and teeth marks, prepare a CSI kit, pay close attention to changes in detail and build team skills. When the campers arrived to their lab on Friday morning they found a crime scene that involved the missing stuffed animal. The missing animal set off a day of questioning suspects and battery of tests to help reveal who stole the missing elephant. Arriving back at the lab, where the crime took place, the campers' tests included handwriting recognition, chromatography, detecting the mystery substance, hair comparisons, teeth mark detection, and lip and finger print detection. Of the six suspects, the first one, known as "Suzanne" was proven as the one who stole the animal by the battery of tests and questioning the campers conducted.

A video to go with it is found here.

At the beach

I spent the day at Atlantic Beach in Jacksonville. Ate some shrimp and oysters with new friends.

Down and to the right

The first one is from a story about a teenager walking from Orlando and Washington DC to raise awareness for child homelessness. That is his dog walking with the shadows of the young man and his friend. The second is from the unfortunate circumstances of having to go to a motor sports event.

From here to there...

I couldn't move my head away from the window. I peered out the window the entire 50 minute flight from Buffalo (new home) to Washington D.C.

He came up to me and posed that way. Like he is pretending to hide from the camera he wanted to be photographed by.

Summer Softball

I haven't really been updating the blog lately, which is strange because I actually have plenty of frames I want to put up. Maybe there will be more to come in the next few days...if I get around to it.
These few frames are from the Florida Softball Championships for age classes, 8U, 10U, 12U and 14U. Over the weekend there were suppose to be over 3,000 people to show at Davis Park in Ponte Vedra.

Also, this week I found out that I was invited to attend the VJ Multimedia Workshop in Ventura, Calif. Pretty cool stuff. I'll be out there at the end of the month.
