Texas Rangers and Detroit Tigers on April 25

You couldn't ask for a better day to be at the ballpark. Whether a fan, player or photographer, the weather and light just made for the perfect day at the ballpark.

Casey's Heart

Casey Rogers is a mature 11-year-old. When he was eight he wanted to start a charity to give to those in need. Four years later, and an essay contest later, he was chosen by Kraft Mac & Cheese to be the kid that presses the button to implode Texas Stadium.
I sent two days with the Rogers, both days at stops for his charity, along with sometime being interviewed by local media (other than TDMN) at Texas Stadium.

Down goes Texas Stadium

On Sunday I was able to photograph the implosion of Texas Stadium, the Cowboys' old home, from the sky. I joined the WFAA crew in the helicopter for the morning.
I was just one from a large team of TDMN photographers that covered all corners of the implosion scene. Please click here to view the amazing work from TDMN staff.

These are a few frames that struck me from the morning.

Not making it through the first inning...

Along with some features and action from Texas Rangers' opening day game against the Toronto Blue Jays I put together an audio piece asking fans why they care so much about opening day. To go right to the piece click here.

Nice lights help a lot

I don't usually get to photograph concerts. This John Mayer concert at the American Airlines Center, in Dallas, may have been my second concert in three years. I got to photograph the first three songs of Mayer's Battle Studies Tour for Mario Tarradell's review in the Guide section of The Dallas Morning News.
Turns out the set designer for these tours design these intricate light sets just for the photographers. Here are a couple I enjoyed from the few minutes I was down in the pit.

Not so, Tami Jochem, a senior mammal keeper at the Dallas Zoo, goes through a training routine with Patrick, a 19-year-old Silverback gorilla, at the zoo on March 2, 2010. While training sessions provide extra mental stimulation for the animal, Patrick has a choice of whether he wants to take part, and only positive reinforcement is given by Jochem. Republican Primary for Governor

For two days in a row I covered U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison stops through Dallas. I ended up really enjoying the coverage leading up to the primary election on Tuesday, and features hunting was a blast.
